The club is delighted to announce that we have received funding from Wooden Spoon Scotland to purchase specialist equipment to launch our NextGen Academy pathway.
The new chairs will provide vital equipment for young players to access Wheelchair Rugby League which will be initially via a Schools outreach programme, taking us into the heart of our community and promoting the amazing sport of Wheelchair Rugby League.
Developing a NextGen pathway has been a key ambition for the club as we continue to grow Wheelchair Rugby League in Edinburgh and across Scotland. The additional chairs will enable us to deliver dedicated sessions for younger participants, helping them learn the fundamentals of the game, build confidence, and become a part of the Giants community.
Martyn Gill, Chair of Edinburgh Giants said:
"We are incredibly grateful to Wooden Spoon Scotland for their support. Access to equipment is one of the biggest challenges in wheelchair sport, and this funding allows us to create opportunities for young players who want to try Wheelchair Rugby League, launching an Junior & Academy pathway is an important step for our club and for the future of the sport".
Wooden Spoon Scotland, the children's charity of rugby, supports projects that make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. Their support will help the Edinburgh Giants create more opportunities for participation and ensure that Wheelchair Rugby League remains accessible to the next generation of players.
The club is looking forward to making further announcements in due course, including the date of the presentation of the chairs to officially launch the NextGen pathway.
