GIANTS YOUTH
WHEELCHAIR TAG RUGBY
RUGBY FOR EVERYONE. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
Get in a chair. Grab a ball. Give it a go!
Giants Youth Wheelchair Tag Rugby gives young people the chance to experience the excitement of Wheelchair Rugby League in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Open to disabled and non-disabled young people. No experience needed. Sports wheelchairs provided.
What is Wheelchair Tag Rugby?
Wheelchair Tag Rugby is a fun and accessible introduction to Wheelchair Rugby League.
Everyone plays in a sports wheelchair, with players passing, moving, attacking space and working together through a range of specifically designed games and activities.
Instead of tackling, players take a tag to stop an opponent, creating a fast moving action that is easy to pick up and exciting to play.
You don't need to be a wheelchair user in everyday life to take part.
Disabled and non-disabled players play together, breaking down barriers, making friends and having fun.
Who can take part?
Giants Youth Wheelchair Tag Rugby programme is designed to make getting involved as easy as possible and is available for oung people aged between 11-16 years of age.
You don't need to own a wheelchair.
You don't need any Rugby experience.
And you don't need to have a disability to take part.
We'll provide the sports wheelchairs, equipment and coaching.
Everyone gets to play.
Our sessions bring disabled and non-disabled young people together through sport, creating an environment where everyone participates on the same court.
That's what being a Giant is all about.
What is involved?
Expect lots of playing and plenty of opportunities to get involved.
You will learn how to move and turn in a sports wheelchair, pass and catch a rugby ball, attack space and score tries, tag and defend as a team, communicate and make decisions and play small-sided games and activities.
But most importantly.....
You'll play rugby, have fun and be part of the Giants.
